It’s been a long time since I’ve touched my whimsical side; dealing with wedding details made me so much “fluff and glitter” oriented that all I ever searched for was center pieces or head dresses. That was until I stumbled upon Li Hui‘s work; a self taught photographer who uses natural elements and efects such as double exposure and light leaks to express people and nature from her point of view. The fact that you never see any faces is because she thinks people change their faces too fast in the real world and body language is the only way she can know about what’s going on inside of them. An odd and non-profitable thought for someone who works in fashion (that’s me, not her; she’s not a fashion photographer), but I’m in love with the angle and the depth of the photos. I told you at the beginning of the post that I was going weird today.
Hey there! As some of you – the ones who actually read the posts 🙂 – already know, I got married last week to my boyfriend of 7 years. It was an unforgettable wedding; not just because our families worked so hard to make everything perfect while we were away in Canada, but also because the wedding took place right in the middle of the Turkish rebellion. Not that it made anything harder tough, luckily the day of our wedding wasn’t such a hard day of clashes, but there are signs of riot everywhere, even in our wedding video where all of us stop the dance to shout out slogans to support the resistance. Resistance against fascism, against dictatorship, against anything that restricts one’s freedom just for the sake of others’ wishes. And apparently against the rain that poured down right in the middle of the ceremony, but thank god later stopped and made everyone more energetic and eager to have fun than they usually or possibly are. So if you ask me, it may …
I thought this casual friday would be a perfect day to reminiscence (because it’s been so long since it ended) the best moments of fashion month. My favourite snaps are always the backstage shoots; they are more candid and they capture the most exciting moments & striking details.
Following me on Instagram yet? I’m still new to all kinds of i-Phoneism (I was shackled by Blackberry for years) but I’m starting to warm up. I haven’t been posting so much; because of the weather I was spending %90 of my time at school & home and I’m pretty sure that no one wants to see my pjs or my books and stuff – hence the pavement and building photos & indoor jewelry shots. But it will get better. Actually it HAS to get better. You know why? Because I bought that Zara sandals in the second photo and I am going to wear them so much that this city will get bored of my feet! (Its me versus you Montréal, bring it on!) Just in case you’re curious how my rebellion is going to go; follow @thefashionmedley.
