I have to admit that even though I’m tired of fashion month just by sitting on my couch (attending the craze for even just a week was enough for me) and that I don’t really enjoy seeing the same faces over and over again on the street style scene, especially when I know that among the attendees there are always lot more stylish and unique people that I wish would get photographed, I still always look forward to the street style of Paris. As it’s the fashion capital of the world and the grand finale to all fashion weeks, people knowingly or unknowingly save their best looks for Paris and I love stocking up on inspiration for the next 6 months. Spoiler alert, stop reading this post now if you don’t want your savings to tank – all these looks are good for the soul, bad for the wallet.
Milan, the city of extremely well dressed elderly and unbelievably boring youth that suddenly (and luckily) goes into hiding during fashion week and making way for stylish crowds. That’s all I learned in my year living there; don’t expect to be inspired by anyone unless it’s one of the fashion months but if it is, just enjoy the very colorful ride.
It’s been almost 9 years since I started working in fashion (and about 13 since I got really passionate about it) and I still don’t get why London Fashion Week doesn’t get the credit it deserves from the fashion crowd. Besides being one of my favorite cities in the world (I like it a lot more than New York, honestly) London has that creative juice that’s not flowing, it’s almost boiling – on the runway and on the streets. It’s less sophisticated, less calculated and definitely more comfortable and colorful than the rest. All I can ask for.
After a (veery) long hiatus from the blog caused by vacations, personal problems and general laziness (sorry) I’m back with sharing the thing I like sharing the most: fashion week street style! One thing I’d like to note about this particular NYFW street style bunch (that you may not know or get looking at the photos) but the weather was absolutely TERRIBLE in NY during fashion week. It was rainy, humid, extremely hot, unexpectedly cold on some hours during the day – it was a complete nightmare to dress to. So at every single image, every single outfit, please appreciate how these amazing women can hold it together because I was sweating out of every single hole on my body. New York people really do have some super powers I guess, always looking enviably cool being one of them.
Almost as if everyone knew of the importance of being at last fashion week that will host a Céline collection that came out of hands of Phoebe Philo (it was an interim collection but you could see Phoebe all over it), the streets were like a homage to the designer and the brand that shaped almost every wardrobe of every woman around the world (even if you never owned a piece of Céline, you were a part of the aesthetic she created by wearing pieces of Zara, Mango, H&M or countless other brands and new designers that were “inspired” by her). The madame boots, printed turtleneck tops, pleated skirts, cropped jacket with the “tail” – it was everywhere. Here are my favorite looks from Paris Fashion Week streets, living proof of how much we’ll miss Phoebe. Forever.
