When you try to shop the sales (which as a shopaholic I HAVE to do in order to own many many beautiful, sometimes designer pieces AND avoid bankruptcy at the same time) you usually find yourself having the thing you want only a couple of months too late, or a season too early (depending on where you are at the item/trend spectrum). So at that moment you have to decide, should I buy it anyway and wait for next year to wear it or invest my money in something that I can wear now? I almost always make the wrong decision but this time I was right choosing to buy the mules. I understand why people can’t seem to wear anything else, they are unbelievably comfortable and go with everything. . Camel sweater COS (similar here & here) . Same goes with this stuff, I’m sure that 5 mins after I publish this post I’m going to come up with a brilliant, fashion magazine worthy of a title. Now please just forget how I blabbered above and pay attention to my pretty pleated (and very prettily scored on sale) skirt. .
No matter how many designers (including Phoebe Philo for Celine) try embrace the mule trend over the years in different ways (remember, about 4 years ago clogs were EVERYWHERE) for me, pointed toe city mules are always Carrie mules. And now, 10 years after SATC ended (Friends also ended 10 years ago folks, we are getting old, so very old…) Ms Bradshaw continues to live on the streets: first the huge gold letter necklaces, now the city mules. I personally am very much pro open toe mules but the pointed toe ones are – as much as I swoon over them on super stylish gals – a tad too posh for me. But hey, never say never. .
