New York Fashion Week’s street style scene is something special, not because it’s the chicest or the most inspirational (it’s definitely neither of those) but because whatever weather condition we have to bear in Montreal, showgoers in New York have to bear the same thing and it gives me a little bit (ok a lot of) pleasure to see them suffer like that. All jokes aside it’s really nice to see, especially during fall fashion weeks, how the most stylish %1 bundles up in extreme winter conditions and it’s a relief to know that snow boots and giant furs/coats are totally acceptable. I picked 85 (out of almost 400) best street style looks from NYFW that would give you a weekend-long inspiration.
It’s all been about (shades of) winter unicolor in freezing New York this week, as showgoers push their limits to look good under extreme weather conditions. Cream and white, camel and brown, pastel pink and grey, burgundy and coral or simply shades of grey, blue, black or green confiscated the streets and even though I break out in hives everytime I see outfits without any black in them, I do think they look pretty amazing so far.
I don’t know if there was ever a phase in life where slits were out, but they sure as hell in this fall in New York. Fashion week has started and from the first looks at the street style scene what caught my eye the most are the deep slits of skirts (no matter how you style them) hand in hand with fringes, oxford flats, below the knee skirts and peplum layerings.
New York fashion week ended on thursday when my blog was down for some unknown reason and I was having the biggest tech crisis since 2010, when a trojan entered my computer from an online dictionary website – the day before I was supposed to submit my thesis – popping out nude ladies everywhere and shutting down my computer every now and then (it didn’t erase my hard drive, if you’re wondering, but the panic I felt probably cost me 10 years of my life) so I couldn’t do the closure post I had in mind. I am leaving that NYFW review to some time next week but I had to do a “best of” of new york fashion week street style post very quickly because I’m sure I will be even more impressed from London. Without a single doubt, Leandra Medine won the style wars round New York whereas colorful furs and black & white shoes (get them here & here) got the award for the most covetable trend. Honest opinion: streets were much …
This was one of the most obvious trends of F/W 2013 season; but I ravel in joy like a little girl every time I see a woman rocking pink. It’s so cute and soft, but definately more badass than white or any of its other opponents. It’s even more wonderful to see it breaking its shell and becoming not only the color of summer but THE color of winter. Needless to say I already own a pair of shorts, trousers, skirt, several sweaters, a cardigan, a jacket and just purchased a coat from Topshop for the upcoming autumn. So have I crossed the obsessed line or what? The biggest question is, will I be able to break my habit and pair it with something other than white and gray?
