Fashion weeks usually make me really happy, despite all the “circus” leading up to fights between bloggers and editors (that I find really, really lame of editors btw), I look forward to fresh inspiration from runways and streets. However this time New York Fashion Week kind of made me sad when I saw all these amazing women looking just as fine even during horrible winter conditions, something which I always claim is the reason why I look like crap in winter. Apparently it’s not winter, it’s me. Here’s hoping these 100 best looks from NYFW starring Ramya Giangola and Jan Michael Quammie will light a fire in me.
After 3 years of endless suffering and depressions from the brutal Montreal winter I came to understand what all my Quebecois friends were talking about: the only way to survive the cold and get over the winter blues is to find a way to enjoy it. Well, I thought, it’s easy for them to say; going skiing or snowboarding so frequently it reminded me of the hopscotch we used to play on the streets every day, it shouldn’t be so hard to enjoy or at least not dread winter so much. I’m not so athletically talentless per se but I have no idea, passion or intention to be a part of any winter sport so I eventually had to find some other way and that is, surprise surprise, winter getaways.
Winter is coming, I know you’re scared (not as scared as I am, for sure, but still scared). Black Friday is also coming and I know you’re intimidexcited (so excited but intimidated by all the sales and don’t know what to buy where). I have good news: SHOPBOP‘s legendary Buy More & Save More sale starts TODAY and will go on until November 30th midnight pacific time! The sale will include all full priced & reduced items, with code GOBIG15 you will get %15 off of orders over $250, %20 off of orders over $500 and %25 off of orders over $1000. So to make things even easier for you, I picked some of my all time favorite winter looks and made the ultimate winter shopping list for you below. There’s nothing to be scared anymore.
For the last couple of weeks I was betting against myself about when I’m going to give up and finally order something from The Real Real – an authenticated luxury consignment sale website offering amazing deals on thousands of stuff – and last week, I won. Or I lost. I don’t know. But I do know that I now own a gorgeous pair of Prada boots that I bought for a fraction of the price and I’m happy, cause I know what happiness is to me. It’s shoes. . My 4th and final challenge for Smart Set’s 1 piece 10 styles project is here and I’m so glad to have done the grand finale with a stripe explosion. The item of the month for March is the striped skinny jean and what better way to style it with even more stripes, all the while having a go at the dress over pants trend I’ve been meaning to try for so long. Layering like an onion was an inevitable but in my case voluntary choice for these horrible winter days. After all, the only upside of winter is being able to wear one item from each clothing category one over the other. . Striped skinny jeans Smart Set . Striped grey body con dress Smart Set .
