Peek A Boo

Today is a very good day. Today I’m proud of myself because while there may be some people out there saving the world, I figured out a way to wear two summer pieces (in winter) both of which are quite hard to wear by themselves yet are very much loved. This wrap skirt is without a doubt the best skirt I’ve ever bought, totally compliments my figure and super stylish but the slit is just to deep for a boy like me to wear on a regular day. The white sundress however was already an under-dress for another apron, kind of see through so it was useless by itself. Then a photo I stumbled upon on Pinterest (or was it tumblr?) gave me the idea to pair these two and wow! Who could have known they were made for each other, like Kanye and Kanye. . Golden Hour

Yes it is snow that you’re seeing right behind my slippery gold loafers, and no it’s not something that happened to stay there, resisting the temperature, it actually is still very much winter here in Montreal. While I appreciate the opportunity to layer, I’ve seriously had it up to here (my hands are way above my head at this point) with the cold so much that I’m dreaming about living in LA lately, somewhere I never wanted to live in as I’m a city girl by heart. On a separate subject, why haven’t I been wearing gold shoes and sheer socks all this time? . Black vintage trench coat TOKEN (similar here & here) . Ivory sweater dress Zara (similar here & here) . Still Here

Soooo, it turns out winter didn’t go anywhere, it just rested a little bit. While I very much appreciated the short break and even this cold is considered ok for a regular Montreal winter, I froze to the marrow this weekend and had to say a temporary goodbye to my thin wool coats and leather jackets. Only upside is I got to wear my new faux fur coat I hadn’t gotten a chance to wear before so we’re all good. Now that I accomplished that we can move on to spring now, permanently please. . Winter Finesse

After 3 years of endless suffering and depressions from the brutal Montreal winter I came to understand what all my Quebecois friends were talking about: the only way to survive the cold and get over the winter blues is to find a way to enjoy it. Well, I thought, it’s easy for them to say; going skiing or snowboarding so frequently it reminded me of the hopscotch we used to play on the streets every day, it shouldn’t be so hard to enjoy or at least not dread winter so much. I’m not so athletically talentless per se but I have no idea, passion or intention to be a part of any winter sport so I eventually had to find some other way and that is, surprise surprise, winter getaways.

Peel The Onion

I guess by now you can understand from the lack of outfit posts that I’m constantly struggling with dressing up in winter, and I always thought it was just because of the cold. Sure it was a huge part of it, when it’s -25 your options are down coat or down coat, but as it turns out slush was just as big of a problem. When I can’t wear more than half the boots I own, meaning I’m stuck with combat boots or sneakers if I’m feeling adventurous enough, I can’t seem to create a lot of interesting outfits and I definitely don’t want to be one of those bloggers posing in high heeled sandals in the middle of the snow. Good news is, spring is right around the corner (the weather network says so) and I’m about the peel the onion and start having fun again. Tune in. . Ivory wool coat Zara (similar here & here) .
